Last year, we had the opportunity to attend one of the most important and prestigious design events worldwide, the ICFF at the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center. This event is not only a fair where you can see what is trending and what is to come, but also generate business relationships with attendees and exhibitors. It was a unique experience. Since, because we were from Costa Rica, people were interested in knowing our interest in attending this exclusive design fair.
This event is a resource for thousands of buyers, architects, internal designers to find the most innovative in the market, generate business alliances and at the same time educate attendees. We had the privilege of attending several talks, but my favorite was that of Sherwin Williams.
In this talk, they showed us six styles that are in trend for this year 2019, along with their colors, textures and of course, the color of the year. This works for any design in general. It is a very useful tool if you want to launch a line of products, accessories and even clothes because we know from before what the trends are and you can prepare these products in advance and achieve the expected success. In the next article these styles will be deepened and how to adapt them to different designs.
The ICFF covers everything from furniture, lighting, wallpaper, accessories, art, textiles and technology. Some of the most outstanding and liked brands were the following:
CF + D
Dedicated to the custom manufacturing of chimneys. In this fair they presented their most innovative and creative line of chimneys, the VITA line. VITA has the best technology to simulate fire with steam. What does it mean with steam? The flame is steam, so it does not heat the space and generates the same appearance to real fire. You can pass your hand and you will not burn.
Kino Guérin has developed his own molding technique to give hypnotic curves to a generally inflexible material. Their furniture not only seems to be moving, but they seem to be alive. With a mixture of sweet inspiration and surgical precision, Kino Guérin manages to create timeless pieces, both practical furniture and works of art.
Boynton Billiards
Boyton Billiards is dedicated to create completely customized game spaces. Its flagship product is a pool table that, at the same time adapts to a dining table or outdoor table. With infinite colors and finishes, they can really “man’s cave” of their dreams or a multipurpose game space.

Is it worth attending the ICFF? Absolutely. Not only do we get to see more product, but also a feedback is built, both for attendees and for exhibitors. Going to these events really opens the creative mind and shows us that there is much more to explore and innovate in the world of design and architecture.
